NICKNAME?

Never had one, though whenever my students ask what to call me, I tell them that it doesn’t matter as long they keep asking questions.

FONDEST MEMORY?

Must I pick one? There are so many. One would be singing with my brothers while growing up.

CRAZIEST MEMORY?

I once told a would-be robber holding a knife to my face to get out of the 7-Eleven I worked at as a teenager. (Needless to say, I survived.)

CHILDHOOD AMBITION?

Not really an ambition, but I always wanted to build things – Lego® houses, skateboard ramps – anything as long as there was some form of construction involved.

WILDEST DREAM?

Write a great novel – or even just a mediocre novel.

WHO WOULD PLAY YOU IN A MOVIE BASED ON YOUR LIFE?

(A much younger) Harrison Ford.y.

IF YOUR LIFE HAD A SOUNDTRACK WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Lots of saxophone.

TECHNOLOGY YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT?

Coffee maker, absolutely.

HISTORY’S GREATEST TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION?

The zipper, a Canadian invention no less.

WHO WOULD WIN IN A FIGHT: PIRATES OR NINJAS?

The ninjas, who would be smart enough to leave enough rum lying around to render the pirates inebriated and defenseless.
